New Medtronic Headquarters

Milan (with Jacobs Engineering) 2001/2003

Space planning and interior design of the New Medtronic Headquarters in Milan (10.000sqm/350staff)

Light, transparency, coziness, and freedom are the concepts which inspired the project for the new Medtronic in Milan. This company invented the first battery-run pacemakers, and has since become a global leader in medical and technological research and development.

We put our space planning and interior design specifications and knowledge into the design of a building tailored around Medtronic and its needs. Corporate image identity are communicated through both internal and external working areas. The large break area effectively conveys the project’s philosophy: eliminating hierarchic, physical and mental boundaries between company resources, having CEOs and employees sharing the same spaces, we created a space that is suited for relaxing, working and socializing.

The state-of-the-art office areas have become a case study for the development of technological features, architecture, and space planning (furniture systems, acoustic design, indirect lighting, ventilation, etc.).

Medtronic Italia received the “Great Places to Work” award in 2012, placing this company in the top-ten list for the best working environments in the medical industry.
